Requesting scans special material

Would you like to use special material for your lectures or study assignments? Part of the collection has already been digitised.

Requesting scans

Is the item you need not digitised yet? You can submit a request to have it scanned. We will attend to your request and will inform you of the several options and costs (if any).

Making photos yourself

After consultation with reading room staff or the curators you can make digital photos of manuscripts, early and rare prints and cartographic material. If needed you can borrow a camera at the service desk of Special Collections. To protect the vulnerable material the  number of photos you may take is limited to 25.

An A3 scanner is available in the Map Room. Depending on the condition of the material (must be published after 1900), you may scan it yourself.

Digitised items

In WorldCat you can check what items are digitally available. Or check the browser for digitised material of Special Collections. By using Ctrl F(ind) you search by words from the title. With the option 'Feeling lucky' you view a random digitised document; nice to get a quick impression of the digital Special Collections.
