Water management maps (1600-1825)

For centuries the Netherlands have been crusading against sea and river water that threatens to flood the valuable land from all sides. That is why the resulting landscape dynamics are timeless and are expressed in old maps of water board districts and rivers for instance.
The digital exhibition Water management maps (1600-1825) shows in chronological order over 120 cartographical documents which almost all relate to hydrographical aspects in the Low Countries. The maps are georeferenced which means that they can be analyzed in an innovative way. By clicking on a thumbnail below the map opens in the viewer. Here in the menu left one can choose viewing the georeferenced document, and 'Full view of record' for an extensive description of the chosen map.
