Deans
Utrecht University values collaboration, educational innovation, sustainability and open science. In some cases, the university chooses to give related themes extra attention. This can take shape in the temporary appointment of a Dean. A Dean coordinates activities around a certain theme and represents the university in various (inter)national and/or regional networks. These activities fall under the responsibility of the Rector Magnificus.

It is fantastic what collaborations and projects are already underway within the university and with partners in the region. By continuing to strengthen and connect these collaborations, we can get even more out of them.

We invite colleagues and students to share good ideas from within the organization. Even with the complex topic of the sustainable embedding of interdisciplinary education, we will likely get the most out of it with a broad, interdisciplinary view.

As a university, we fully commit to community engagement in education. That is why students already work on social issues with scientists, social partners, citizens and teachers during their studies.

I see it as my task to connect with all faculties and parts of the university. Together, we will work on concrete actions towards the main objectives of the multi-annual plan.

The breeding ground for open science has been established and in some areas, things are in full bloom. In other areas, we need to continue to work hard. Implementation and internalization are important challenges for the upcoming years. I am looking forward to shaping the further steps.
