Aula Academiegebouw

Located on Domplein in Utrecht’s city centre, Utrecht University Hall is both the physical heart and face of Utrecht University. Dating from 1462, the auditorium is the oldest part of the building. This is where the Union of Utrecht was signed in 1579, regarded as laying the foundations for the Dutch Republic. The building teems with history. Nowadays, it’s used for formal academic occasions such as graduation ceremonies, PhD defences and inaugural addresses.
