Borrowing from other libraries

You request material from other libraries in WorldCat by clicking on the title of the book. Under Access Options you will find the button Interlibrary Request.

By clicking on the button an application screen will appear.

1. If you are not yet logged yet in with your Solis-id from Utrecht University, you still have to log in on a login screen. You proceed with step 2. Please note: if you do not see the Interlibrary Request button you will have to log in with your Solis-id. Select My account. In the next screen you select the tab Requested and next Create Request
2. An application form will be shown. If you request a book, select Book. A copy of a book chapter or a journal article is requested by selecting Article and book chapter request. You will be asked to provide a number of bibliographical data.
3. In the application screen, choose at Patron type whether you are a Utrecht University student or staff member, UMC employee or other user. 
4. If you agree with the conditions, click on submit request.

You enter your Worldcat portal and receive the confirmation of your request with is request number. You will also see the overview of your other requests in your portal. You can access the overview of your requests and the progress of your requests via the portal.

Please note: the system determines to which library the request is sent. You cannot influence this process.

Sometimes material from foreign libraries is not for loan and for consultation only. You consult the material in the Special Collections Reading Room in the University Library Utrecht Science Park.
