Reading room card

A reading room card allows you to request and consult Utrecht University Library material from our depositories. Please note that you cannot borrow material with a reading room card.

Material from the depositories

A reading room card is free of charge and allows you to consult material from the depositories. Material that is on the open shelves can always be consulted, for this you do not need a reading room card. If you want to take library material home, or borrow material from other libraries, you need  a library card. 

Consulting titles in the library

A reading room card must always be linked to a guest Solis id. You need a guest Solis-id to request material from our collections (including Special Collections) in WorldCat. To request a guest Solis-id and reading room card, please fill in this form. At the service desk of the library, your guest Solis-id will be activated by library staff and your reading room card will be linked to your Solis-id. You need to show a valid proof of identity.
