Dies Natalis 2011

On 25 March 2011, Utrecht University's Anniversary Day was a very special occasion because of the 375th anniversary. It also marked the official start of the 75th lustrum and the departure of Rector Magnificus Prof Hans Stoof. His successor is Prof Bert van der Zwaan.

The University Hall's new bell, the Anna Maria van Schurman, was also sounded for the first time on this day. It was a gift from the Utrecht Bell-ringers Guild to mark this special anniversary.

ANNIVERSARY ADDRESS: BERT WECKHUYSEN

The anniversary address, entitled ‘The Magic of Catalysis: Water 2 Wine’, was given by Prof Bert Weckhuysen, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science.

SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

In 2012, Utrecht University celebrated its 75th five-year anniversary (or 375th anniversary) in style, with its theme 'Knowledge for the Future', and a variety of activities throughout the year for staff, students, associates and residents of Utrecht and the surrounding area.
