Utrecht Biofabrication Facility

The Biofabrication Facility is a breeding ground for the development of novel implants and acts as an educational center of excellence

The Utrecht Biofabrication Facility aims at expediting emerging biofabrication technologies in areas of regenerative medicine, 3D in vitro cell culture models and therapeutic treatments. It brings together engineers, materials scientists, cell biologists, clinicians and commercial partners to create living 3D laboratory models.

Models and implants
Currently, we develop specific models to investigate liver toxicity, kidney function, as well as factors influencing fertilisation. We also create models for patient-specific cancer drug-screening. Moreover, we support projects that develop personalised implants for cartilage, bone and cardiac muscle regeneration.
