Postdoctoral researchers (postdocs) make up a large part of the scientific workforce in academia. However, they are quite invisible as a group for policy makers. To address this, the POSTDOCNL platform has been initiated, with the goal of uniting and representing postdocs from all backgrounds and knowledge institutions in The Netherlands.
POSTDOCNL will serve as an advocate for postdocs since there are many postdoc-related issues that our mission is to improve, including:
- Work on solutions for the issues on CAO/WWZ regulations regarding temporary contracts versus project-based work, together with union (VAWO) (Legal)
- Increase visibility of postdocs and their voice on local and national level, through setting up local networks and register postdocs from start of their employment (Local networks) and represent them national through PostdocNL – build up a network, PR and work on policies (PR and Policy)
- Career development postdocs for careers in academia as well as outside academia (Policy)
All postdocs of The Netherlands are invited to join the POSTDOCNL group on LinkedIn.
‘Move your body, stretch your mind!’ That’s the modern-day translation of the Latin quotation Mens sana in corpore sano (literally ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’). Sport is something you do for fun and to keep fit. Release stress through physical exercise, push your limits or just enjoy yourself before or after a hard day studying or working!
