Lustrum 2023

In 2023 we were happy to mark the 25th anniversary of University College Utrecht, and celebrate the first 25 years of liberal arts and sciences in the Netherlands. The 5th Lustrum celebration and  Alumni Homecoming weekend took place between 8th and 11th June 2023, with the participation of current and former staff, students, alumni and friends of University College Utrecht from far and wide.

In 2023 we celebrated the 25th anniversary of University College Utrecht. University College Utrecht was established as the first university college in the Netherlands, according to pioneering vision of our founding dean Hans Adriaansens, who envisioned a vibrant academic environment where students were free to follow their academic interests in any direction and learning did not only take place in the classroom, but students lived and learned together. 25 years on we are proud to look back on the achievements resulting from this vision, and have adopted the celebration of 25 years of liberal arts and sciences in Utrecht as the theme for our Lustrum. The presentations and symposia focused on the contributions that liberal arts and sciences have made to the Dutch society.

The Lustrum and Homecoming took place between 8-11 June 2023. The multi-day programme had a wide variety of events and activities to celebrate the first 25 years of liberal arts and sciences in the Netherlands, such as symposia, sports, class reunions and a lot of time for networking as well as creating new memories. We are happy to have welcomed all of our staff, students, alumni and their families, as well as our counterparts at UU, partners and the local community to join in the celebration and look forward to the next lustrum in 5 years time. We would like to thank all who worked hard on preparing the Lustrum and Alumni Homecoming, including the organization committee, the University College Student Association and University College Student Council for their contributions but also BarCo for hosting the party and FocusCo and UCStudios for their work in documenting the event, evidence of which you can view below.
