SIG Continuing Education

professionals follow education together

Utrecht University is committed to Lifelong Learning. Studying alongside work is becoming increasingly common and as a result the range of courses on offer for professionals is growing strongly. But this form of impact through education brings with it questions and challenges. In the SIG we address these questions and try to find answers through the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

The SIG Education for Professionals is a platform for sharing experiences in organizing, implementing and testing education for working professionals. The target group of the SIG is broad. In a constantly changing composition, the meetings provide a basis for exchange and discussion between all those involved: from lecturers to researchers and from administrators and policymakers to education, finance and HR staff. In the SIG, colleagues from the UU community discuss Lifelong Learning with each other. How do we organise this, what didactic requirements do we meet and how do we ensure a good match between theoretical and practical knowledge? By discussing such questions and sharing experiences with each other, we expand our own professional repertoire and build community building around the theme of Education for Professionals.

The meetings are small-scale and serve dialogue and exchange, and alternately deal with substantive and practical aspects of teaching professionals. In addition to the core theme that is central to each meeting, space is built into each meeting for sharing current developments in practice and policy.

Initiators: Arnold WiltsMirelle Stukstette and Sabah Bundab.
