SIG Programmatic Assessment

A lot of potentially valuable information obtained through assessment unfortunately remains unused at the moment. Often, summative assessment, which prominently features numbers and success rates, still receives most attention. Within the Utrecht Education Model, however, which centralises the student and makes him or her responsible for their own development, it is of great importance that more use is made of the formative side of assessment. This would use information from assessment in a way that provides the student insight into their own learning process and progres to be able to take the next step in a focused way.

Programmatic assessment can be a suitable model for this. This model provides structure to integrate learning and assessment. Several courses within UU have already started this form of testing or are thinking about implementing it.
