Community Engaged Learning Event

From 2022 onwards, the Community Engaged Learning (CEL) programme will organise a large-scale bi-annual event to stimulate the development of CEL at Utrecht University. By bringing together academics and societal partners, new ideas for collaboration on societal issues will emerge.

During the Community Engaged Learning Event there is room for interaction and exchanging perspectives on the connection between academic education and society. The event offers inspiration and tools to get started with ideas for educational innovation.

What is Community Engaged Learning?

Community Engaged Learning (CEL) at the Universiteit Utrecht enriches and strengthens classical university-based teaching, through direct dialogue with society. In CEL, a community of shared concerns, consisting of students, teachers and social partners, raises hard questions about societal issues, large and small, and seeks creative solutions through sustained contact and reciprocal commitment to each other. This form of shared exploration and mutual learning is a means to a larger end: connecting university and society in a long-term relationship.
