Education and research
Utrecht University Botanic Gardens are the largest academic botanic garden in the Netherlands. The Gardens are one of the three remaining academic gardens in the Netherlands that are directly linked to the research and education of their university.
Utrecht University Botanic Gardens stand for scientific expertise in the field of plant sciences and the evolution and ecology of plants. In January 2023, the research unit Quantitative Biodiversity Dyanimics was launched at the Botanic Gardens in collaboration with the departments of Biology, Mathematics, Information and Computing Sciences and the Centre for Complex Systems Studies. We also facilitate various research projects, both by scientists within and outside Utrecht University. The Gardens are a place for (university) education as well.
