Tony Barshini (member)
"The Faculty Club has an unique location. I often show visitors from outside Utrecht the imposing Utrecht University Hall first. Hundreds of years ago, the Union of Utrecht was signed in the current Aula! And from there you walk straight on to the living room of the Faculty Club with that beautiful, big fireplace."
Sara Pot (board member)
"Why I am a fan of the Faculty Club? Of course because it is the most fun and sociable club at Utrecht University! It is a nice place to meet up, have a quick bite to eat with a friend or just meet up with colleagues. And I always enjoy catching up with bartender Pieter."
Sandy van Heerde (club manager)
"In many ways this is a dream job. I have the most beautiful workplace in the university and I contribute to the bond between alumni and staff, across disciplines and generations."
Kim Donaldson (employee UCU)
"In the United States, the faculty club is the hub of social life. The Utrecht Faculty Club is incredibly fun, but not yet known to everyone. That is different in the US: there, faculty clubs have a strong connection with their employees and alumni."
Jaap Dijkman (architect)
"We like to work with steel and wood. That ages beautifully, is not so expensive and also fits in nicely with the old atmosphere the Faculty Club exudes. You can turn it into something antique or you can turn it into something new, but with respect for the old. We chose the latter."
Ineke van Oosten (former board member)
"After two years of preparation, the contours of the club were clear: it had to be an association with paying members consisting of scientists, support staff and alumni and with a clubhouse. We characterized the atmosphere as a living room of 'distinguished simplicity."
Pedro Cosme e Silva - PhD candidate Faculty of Science
"It is a wonderful way for international PhD candidates to get acquainted with the spirit of the UU, getting to know not only colleagues from the same field but across a wide spectrum of backgrounds and activities."
Shelby Mallo - Project manager for education at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
"I see the activities as an opportunity to expand my network within the UU. I also find it an inspiring place for meetings."
Hajo Reijers - Professor Information Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences
"Utrecht University Hall is such a beautiful place to meet, right in the middle of the historical centre of Utrecht. Especially if that can be done in the garden with beautiful weather, then I feel as happy as a king."
Karin van den Boogaert - Alumnus REBO
"It's very important that there is a meeting place (and such a beautiful place, too!) where we can meet each other in an informal atmosphere. That's where the best ideas come about."
Raja Lala - Lecturer at the Computer Science Department at Utrecht University
"The Faculty club in the Academy building is a historic and fascinating place in the middle of the Utrecht city centre."
