Music nights
From jazz to tear-jerkers and from big bands to German karaoke: the Faculty Club is a jack of all musical traits. We regularly organise music evenings around a central theme, which may or may not be combined with other activities based on the same theme, such as a lecture.
We enjoy it even more if the musicians have a connection with UU. Are you such a musician and would you like to perform in our beautiful sitting-room? If so, please send an email to facultyclub@uu.nl.
An impression
Burlando Jazz
During multiple Happy Hours, our young musicians of Burlando Jazz enthusiastically performed the live music in the Sitting-Room.
Django's Tigers
In the past years, we enjoyed Django's Tigers multiple times. This very musical Gypsy Jazz Trio took us on journeys into their very extensive repertoire multiple times.
German karaoke
During the Oktoberfest, many people loudly sang along with the various schmalzy pop songs and tear-jerkers of the Faculty Club Karaoke.
GrooveGang
Tamar Aprahamian is an UU employee and a versatile jazz singer. With the combo GrooveGang, she played a lovely mix of swinging jazz and summer-time sambas.
Carezza
During the Oktoberfest, UU colleague and violinist Lothar Blom performed with the Carezza string quartet: they took us on a journey into the classical music of German-language composers.
Pierre et les Optimistes
All you need is love... just before the corona crisis, we organised our very first Valentine's Dinner and we could enjoy the beautiful music of Pierre et les Optimistes.
Marco Tomassen
It was an unforgettable evening: the tear-jerker evening with Marco Tomassen who substituted for the ill Utregse Meisjes. Never before had there been conga lines in the Faculty Club...
Yiannis Tsantillis
And of course, the familiar Greek jazz musicians of Yiannis Tsantillis performed for us many times. During our Happy Hours, we could enjoy their swinging music to the fullest extent.
