The Faculty Club of ... Shelby Mallo
In this section, our members tell something about themselves and why they are members of the Faculty Club. Shelby Mallo is project manager for education at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Why am I a member? I became a member of the Faculty Club because I see the activities as an opportunity to enlarge my network at the UU. I also find it an inspiring place for meetings. To be honest, I can't remember when I became a member ... I have been receiving the newsletter for a long time, but I only signed up as a member later.
I see the activities as an opportunity to expand my network within the UU. I also find it an inspiring place for meetings.
What do you do in daily life?
I work as an education project leader at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and in addition to my work I am taking a Master's degree in Project Management. In my spare time, I enjoy sports and I like to try new things on a regular basis. Think about a wine course, sailing, cooking workshops, windsurfing and much more!
Fondest memory of the Faculty Club?
My fondest memory of the Faculty Club is the first edition of the Young OBP Think Tank. We examined the question: how can the Faculty Club enrich its active member base, so that it becomes a reflection of the entire university community? We came up with fun, innovative and surprising ideas, which we hope will help the Faculty Club with this issue.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am looking forward to the activities that will be organised in the new academic year. I also think it would be very cool to have a pop-up location at the Utrecht Science Park, so that it is easier for USP staff to take part in activities.
Any suggestions for activities for the Faculty Club?
An exciting Halloween scavenger hunt at the Faculty Club... Network meetings with colleagues in similar functions, a wine tasting, mindfulness/meditation, etc. etc.
