The Freudenthal Institute is a multidisciplinary institute concerned with science and mathematics education, science communication and public engagement, and the history and philosophy of science.
Through education, research and professionalization, we promote the scientific and mathematical literacy of students, citizens and professionals. As such, the Institute's mission is to advance the "why, what and how" of formal and informal science and mathematics education.
Our focus areas
ResearchOur research focusses on science and mathematics education, science communication, and on the history and philosophy of science.
EducationWe provides bachelor and master courses in science communication and education, and the history and philosophy of science. In addition, the FI organizes activities for secondary education students and professionalization activities for science teachers.
ImpactWith our long-term projects, seminars and conferences we aim to bridge the gap between our university and the rest of education, and we challenge society to keep learning, innovating and improving.
