Ukrainian students
Incluusion currently receives a lot of questions from Ukrainian students, who want to participate in our programme or enrol at the UU. Below, we inform you on what is possible through Incluusion, the refugee programme of the UU.
During the academic year, Incluusion offers English-taught bachelor courses to refugee students for free. Keep in mind that our courses do not lead to EC (study points), but you will receive proof of attendance. The courses are a good way to get acquainted to Dutch university life. We also offer a mandatory 2-day preparatory course called Restart to new students.
Although Ukrainian refugees officially do not have a refugee status, you are more than welcome to sign up for a course in our programme. Do keep in mind that Incluusion courses are only available if you are already in the Netherlands. We also need to mention that we are already receiving many applications and have limited space available in our courses.
The registration for these courses happens 4 times a year (for every academic block).
You can find more information about our courses here.
Please read our FAQ carefully before applying.
Find out when you can register for the next courses on our page about the registration procedure.
We know there are also students who are still enrolled at their Ukrainian university and continuing their education online. For these students, Incluusion offers the possibility to register as a temporary Incluusion student.
Registration is for free and grants you access to all the facilities for UU students. This means you will have access to:
- Our booking systems, where you can reserve a quiet study place with or without computer (bookings.uu.nl)
- The library, where you can rent books or access online scientific articles
- Support, such as study tutoring and workshops, psychological support, etc. See Skills Lab, Student Wellbeing, and Career Services if you want to learn more about the services that the UU offers.
Keep in mind that registering as an Incluusion student does not grant you access to our regular bachelor and master programmes, nor does it mean you will receive study points. This offer is just a way to provide you with a safe and pleasant study environment.
You can register as a temporary Incluusion student by filling out this registration form. Please upload documentation that provides proof that you are currently studying at a Ukrainian university. It does not matter if you are not Ukrainian: if you are an international student studying in Ukraine, you can also make use of this offer.
After registrating, we will review your application as soon as possible. If your application is approved, you will receive a digital Student Welcome Handbook from us with all the information you need to study as a temporary Incluusion student.
Proof of your English level, such as an IELTS or TOEFL certificate, is often required for admission to an English-taught study programme. During the summer of 2022 the organisation UAF offered free IELTS preparation courses and support for the IELTS test for Ukrainian refugees. They will offer these courses again in July 2023. The preparation courses and tests are only open to students who are conditionally accepted to a study programme for the academic year 2023-2024.
