Walk-In Hours Research Data and Software

Struggling with your research data or software? Wondering what to do with the large amount of data you have collected until now? Are you looking for a suitable digital technology to apply in your research project? Or curious about making your data and software open and FAIR? If so, visit the Walk-In Hours of Research Data Management Support!

How we can help you

You can come to us with any questions about your research data or software, such as:

  • FAIR data, data management planning, data storage, data sharing, archiving and publishing data, (basic) privacy issues, metadata, using Yoda or DataverseNL etc.
  • FAIR software, high-performance computing, machine learning, computer modelling, questions about Python, R, Git & GitHub, and more.
  • Reproducibility of your data and software workflow and other best practices.

During the Walk-In Hours, held every Monday, there will be an Open Science Community Utrecht (OSCU) ambassador present. Ask them all of your questions about open science and open education. For example, would you like to pre-register your research analyses, but you don’t know where to start? Or are you in doubt whether to share your course materials as Open Educational Resource? OSCU ambassadors can help you right away, or direct you to a colleague with the relevant experience.

Please note that our consultancy does not focus on statistics. Therefore, we may not be able to help determine which statistical test you need for your research question nor write an analysis script for you from scratch. We recommend asking your colleagues or faculty-level statistics support for that.

For whom, when and where

The Walk-In Hours are intended for all researchers at Utrecht University.

They take place every Monday between 3 and 5 p.m. at our RDM Support area (1st floor, next to the red service desk), University Library Utrecht Science Park.

What to expect

Hanne Oberman, junior researcher for Methodology & Statistics in the Faculty of Social Sciences, shares her experience at the Walk-In Hours in this interview.
