Online laboratory education

PathXL
For laboratory education purposes, there is a big database with digital microscopic sections in Life Sciences classes: digital microscopy, PathXL.

Labster

Labster provides a big collection of ready-to-use virtual laboratory simulations, in which the participant can carry out experiments. The complete overview of the virtual laboratory simulations can be found here. You can make an application via Teaching Support.

JoVE

JoVE shows, among other things, videos of various techniques used in laboratories (via a UU subscription).

LabBuddy

LabBuddy is an online application for preparing and carrying out laboratory experiments. Instead of students carrying out a standard ‘recipe’, students first set up their research setups in LabBuddy themselves. During the practical, students follow the protocol in LabBuddy in which they automatically receive feedback, questions and ‘Just-in-Time’ information. Besides that, the tool provides the possibility to reserve instruments in the laboratory and keep an extensive laboratory notebook. You can make an application via Teaching Support.

Attention: Redesigning a practical and doing technical design in LabBuddy both take some time. That is why you should apply for LabBuddy well in advance. Preferably at least three months in advance.
