⚠ Please note that if you have not found housing before the start of your studies, we advise you to reconsider your decision to study in Utrecht

  • Reserved Accommodation

Utrecht University offers a Reserved Accommodation Programme for new international students who meet the conditions. Finding housing this way is not guaranteed.

  • Housing providers

In the Utrecht region there are several commercial and social housing providers. If available, they offer housing on their portals, through a lottery or waiting list system.

  • Platforms & agencies

The largest share of student housing in Utrecht is provided by private home-owners. Most of these offers are posted on platforms by the landlord or existing tenants.

  • Temporary housing

It is not uncommon to first stay in temporary housing. From a temporary option such as a ho(s)tel, bed and breakfast or sublet you can continue your search for a more permanent place to stay.

  • Current availability

We are sometimes informed of substantial (new) offers on the private market, or availability within the Reserved Accommodation Programme. If this is the case this is posted here.

  • SSH wait list housing

If you plan to study in the Netherlands beyond your Exchange, for example because you are interested in a degree programme, you may wish to register for the SSH Long Stay Waiting list. The wait time on this list is 24 to 30 months.
