Reserved Accommodation Programme for Exchange students (September 2024)

Utrecht University offers a Reserved Accommodation Programme for new international UU students who meet the requirements. Through this programme new international students can apply for a limited number of furnished rooms and studios.

Conditions (Exchange students)

  • Offers are limited

    Placing a reservation is not guaranteed. Because the run for housing is high, also anticipate that you might not be able to book and explore other ways to find housing before booking opens.

  • Rental periods are fixed

    The agreements have fixed start and end dates. It is not possible to rent longer or shorter or cancel the agreement prematurely. 

     

  • 5 or 10 months

    Erasmus / Exchange students who start their studies in September can apply for one semester (5 months) or two semesters (10 months) only.

Conditions for Erasmus Exchange students
  • You plan to enrol as an Erasmus or Exchange student per September 2024 for one full semester (5 months) or two full semesters (10 months)
    and;
  • You do not live and have not previously lived in the Netherlands

When and how to apply

You require an approved registration prior to the start of booking. Booking is on first come, first served basis and not guaranteed. The below dates only apply to Exchange students.

  • Registration:

    Opens: Monday 13 May 2024 9.00 am Central European Summer Time
     

  • Booking opens:

    Tuesday 4 June 2024 9.00 am Central European Summer Time

Housing provider: SSH Short Stay

For Exchange students, the UU Reserved Accommodation Programme offers furnished rooms and studios via housing provider SSH Short Stay. Because the housing is not owned by Utrecht University, contracts are between the tenant and the housing provider.

Please note that the below rent and costs are provisional and based on Academic year 2023-2024.

Monthly rent including service costs & furnishing
  • Shared room with shared facilities: 394 to 533 euros

  • Private room with shared facilities 529 to 668 euros

  • Private studio with private facilities 706 to 870 euros

For the tenancy agreements of one semester (5 months) a one off 9% Tax Fee is charged over the combined rent

Multiple bookings not allowed

It is not allowed to apply for more than one room or studio when booking opens. If you successfully applied for an accommodation you are no longer eligible for another. If you have more than one booking this will therefore be denied. Which booking is cancelled is random. Any costs or advanced payments are not reimbursed by the housing provider.
