Educational Pool

For the master program Regenerative Medicine & Technology, we are continuously striving to develop new elective courses. This year we are planning to start developing a new course on the influence of the immune system on tissue regeneration. If you are a last year PhD student or a postdoc with teaching experience and ambitions in the educational domain and you are looking for a nice challenge and learning experience, this project might be something for you. The time investment is estimated to be between 3 and 6 months of full time work, for which there will be a compensation (details pending).

In the period of September 7^th to November 5^th 2020, the annual bachelor course on ‘Research Methods’ for 2nd year students of Biomedical Sciences will run again. For this course, typically two RMU scientists tutor a group of 5-6 students to work on a research proposal within their own regenerative/stem cell field. The time investment is about 1.5-2 hours per week. In total, 45 dbu will be rewarded for this educational activity. Besides, you get a chance to meet potential future students that are motivated to study RM.

For the bachelor program Biomedical Sciences, we are looking for tutors with experience in and knowledge of cell/molecular biology research that can supervise in the course “Project Tumoren en Metastasen”. The course is given in Period 1 (timeslot AD; Monday morning, Wednesday and Friday). Supervision will take around 2 dbu of contact hours (to be scheduled by the supervisor but within the AD time slots) and occasional grading/feedback work or written assignments. The course finishes with a symposium on November 6^th for which the supervisor is also invited. In total, 80 dbu will be rewarded for this educational activity.

In the bachelor program Biomedical Sciences, students are coached during the course of their program by tutors. Tutors are essential because they guide the students in their personal and academic development. For the upcoming academic year 2020-2021 we are looking for teachers and/or researchers that are willing and able to take on the role of tutor. The new tutor will be paired to first year Biomedical Sciences bachelor students and will “grow” along with the students until the end of their 3^rd year. Time investment is estimated to be 75 dbu in the first year, and about 25 dbu in the 2^nd and 3^rd year. The tutor will receive compensation according to the usual dbu tariff. The tutor will organize group meetings with a group of students (max 14), always with an eye on a specific (academic) skill. The tutor will be guided during intervision and trainings to assure he/she has the right tutoring skills and deliver high quality tutoring.
