There is an old African saying: ‘If you want to go fast, go it alone. If you want to go far, go it together.’ Utrecht University is the first Dutch university to thematically combine its top research into strategic themes and focus areas. In this way different research disciplines cooperate in solving societal issues.
In addition to a sound cooperation within the university, Utrecht University also boasts an intensive cooperation with other universities and research institutes both in the Netherlands and abroad.
Each day, over 6,000 members of staff work together towards high-quality education and research and the support thereof. It is essential to make use of each other’s expertise and to work together well to achieve superior joint results. The various service departments of the university, too, have to cooperate constructively across the various disciplines and between faculties and service departments in order to provide the scientific staff with efficient and effective support.
By means of a solid IT infrastructure internal communication and cooperation are encouraged and facilitated, even when the cooperating members of staff do not physically share the same space.
