When preparing to come to Utrecht, housing is an essential matter that needs to be arranged. Because Utrecht is a very popular international university city, finding an affordable place to live can be very difficult. We urge you to start your search for housing several months in advance.
Dutch Universities do not own accommodation. Utrecht University reserves short stay housing with housing foundation SSH. While we aim to offer the reserved housing to as many applicants as possible, the university cannot guarantee the availability. The accommodation is exclusively available for international (non-Dutch) staff, guests and PhDs who do not yet live in the Netherlands. That is either with or without an employment contract and including those who are temporarily affiliated to Utrecht University.
Other ways to find housing
Because the availability of reserved accommodation cannot be guaranteed, it is strongly advised to search for accommodation on your own as well. Because this can be difficult and time consuming, Utrecht University provides you with advice for you to get started.
