UU Reserved Accommodation Programme: PhDs

Dutch universities do not own accommodation. The UU Reserved Accommodation Programme therefore reserves furnished housing for new international PhD candidates with housing provider SSH Short Stay. Keep in mind that all housing via this programme is popular, and UU cannot guarantee availability.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for the UU Reserved Accommodation Programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are appointed as a future international UU PhD candidate, or temporarily affiliated with Utrecht University, either with or without an employment contract;
  • You are new to the Netherlands and currently live abroad;
  • Your UU faculty's HR contact person has informed the International Service Desk (ISD) of your arrival.

The housing market in the Netherlands is highly competitive, and finding housing through the UU Reserved Accommodation Programme is not guaranteed. If there is any flexibility in the start of your PhD programme, you are advised to check the SSH Short Stay offer before you apply for housing. You can also combine different available short term offers (max 1 year and no repeat address).

No suitable housing in the single person offers? Check the 2 person offers and contact us to see what can be arranged.
