PhD candidates at the Faculty of Humanities work on their doctoral theses in one of several capacities with variable possibilities for financial assistance. They have to pay a yearly fee for participation costs. If the PhD candidates are employed by the university, this is paid for. Directors of the research institutes are entitled to wave (part of) this tuition fee.
