'Child participation in family law’

Op 15 oktober 2021 werd een online symposium en boekpresentatie gehouden voor het International Handbook on Child Participation in Family Law (Intersentia, 2021). Het symposium werd georganiseerd door de mede-redacteurs van het Handboek: prof. Mariëlle Bruning (Leiden Universiteit), dr. Marilyn Freeman (ICFLPP en Westminster Law School), prof. Wendy Schrama (UCERF, UU) en prof. Nicola Taylor (University of Otago) en werd gefaciliteerd door Charlotte Mol (UCERF, UU).

Het programma van het symposium was als volgt:

• A real say for children: some results and future directions based on the Handbook . Prof. Wendy Schrama (on behalf of the Handbook’s co-editors) (Professor of Family Law and Comparative Law and Director of the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF), UU)
• Promoting and protecting the rights of the child in cross-border family law proceedings - a view from the European Parliament Coordinator on Children’s Rights. Mrs. Ewa Kopacz (European Parliament Coordinator on Children’s Rights; Vice-President of the European Parliament)
• Children’s rights and the context of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Prof. Ann Skelton (UNESCO Chair in Education Law in Africa, University of Pretoria; Rotating Honorary Chair of Enforcement of Children’s Rights, Department of Child Law, University of Leiden, the Netherlands; Member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child)

Na de drie presentaties werd een discussie gehouden met de 70+ deelnemers uit de hele wereld.
