Jaap Wilting Keynote Lecture

UIPS was founded in 1992 after several years of preparation by dr. Jaap Wilting and prof. Daan Crommelin. Dr. Wilting was managing director of UIPS till his retirement in 2009. Jaap Wilting passed away in 2021. During the biennial UIPS symposia we intend to invite a keynote speaker to commemorate our founder. Jaap Wilting was very interested in science AND in society. Therefore we hope to invite keynote lecturers with excellent science and with major societal impact.

In June 2022 we were honoured to host prof. Mihai Netea, RadboudUMC, as Jaap Wilting keynote lecturer with a lecture titled:

"Trained Immunity. From mechanisms to therapy"

In January 2024 we were honoured to host prof. Marc Bonten, ECRAID, as Jaap Wilting keynote lecturer with a lecture titled:

"How to repare the broken clinical trial enterprise"

In January 2026 we were honored to host prof. Sabine Fuchs, UMCU/WKZ, as Jaap Wilting keynote lecturer with a lecture titled:

"Therapies for metabolic diseases"
