Research questions and method

The leading research questions include:

  1. How do Moroccan-Dutch mothers and fathers, participating in the parenting programme Shabab van Nu!, learn about parenting, understood from a perspective that takes into account the networked and collective nature of their learning?
  2. What are learning the outcomes of parents’ social learning processes identified with question 1?
  3. How do SvN-programme characteristics relate to parents’ learning processes and outcomes as described with question 1 and 2?

In this explorative study we use a nested sampling procedure and a variety of research instruments, including a pre- and post-programme survey and structured interviews, repeated semi-structured in-depth interviews, social network analysis and ethnographic data collection, including participatory observations and the use of participant-made visualisations.
