Yvonne van Rooy is a director and former politician for the CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal). She studied Dutch Law at Utrecht University. From February 2004 to September 2012, she was the chairman of the Executive Board of our university.

Her first employer was the NCW (Dutch Christian Employers' Association) in The Hague. In 1984, Van Rooy was elected to the CDA in the European Parliament, where she dealt with trade policy and economic and monetary affairs.

In 1986, Yvonne van Rooy became Secretary of State for Economic Affairs in the Lubbers II and Lubbers III cabinets. She stayed until August 1994, with a brief interruption as a member of parliament. In 2012, after fifteen years of university administration, she became president of the Hospitals Association, until 2018.

Other positions

Van Rooy holds various other positions. She is, for example, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Philips the Netherlands and member of the Supervisory Board at Fuji Europe and PwC. The alumna is also chairman of the foundation for the protection of Camp Vught National Memorial, director of the GAK Institute and member of the Supervisory Board of the Gemeentemuseum The Hague.
