Dr. Valentijn Karemaker
Valentijn Karemaker is an Assistant Professor at the Mathematical Institute. She obtained her PhD at Utrecht University and held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Pennsylvania and Stockholm University.
Her research is in arithmetic geometry, which studies the connections between geometry and number theory. Her current Veni project focusses on arithmetic properties of geometric objects that live in a world with modular arithmetic.
How can we solve polynomial equations by studying geometry, and vice versa?
Valentijn Karemaker has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2021.
