OSA chapter
In collaboration with the Optical Society of America (OSA) a number of Nanophotonics PhD students have set up a Student Chapter. The Optical Society, founded in 1916, is the leading professional association in optics and photonics and home to science, technology and industry in this area. The Optical Society offers students in important university cities the opportunity to set up a Student Chapter which is supported by the Optical Society through facilities and subsidies.
OSA Chapter Utrecht will focus on the outreach of physics where the emphasis will be on the areas of optics and photonics. Through lectures, guest speakers, lab tours, social media, high school interactions, drinks and more they will introduce / guide (future) students in these scientific areas. The students will improve skills such as speaking in public, explaining their field in understandable language and controlling equipment by means of programming code. Above all, it is important that they are engaged in optics and photonics in a fun and educational way.
