"The rainbow bike path makes me happy"

Willem Vos is one of the two student members of the Equality Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Steering Committee. They are eager to make themselves visible as a part of the LGBTIQ+ community because they never had such a role-model when coming out themselves: "It's important that students know that I am fully there to support them."

Standing on the rainbow bike path, they say: “It’s always beautiful to see, and it makes me very happy. I think it’s important to listen to people who claim that the bike path is just ceremonial or say that their needs haven’t been met. But it’s not just ceremonial – it’s only one of the things we’ve done at the university. If people have a different opinion, it's crucial to hear them out and see how we can improve.”
