    Are the rich becoming richer and the poor poorer? Can we measure prosperity and how do we get to a better distribution of prosperity?

    Examples of research from Utrecht into equality and inequality between men and women from various disciplines, such as gender studies, social and behavioural sciences, history, philosophy and economy.

  • Sustainable Labour Market

    We are dealing with staff shortages in healthcare and education that are getting bigger and bigger. At the same time, unemployed people over the age of 50 can barely get a job. How can we come to a more balanced and more sustainable labour market?

    A programme for education and traineeships for asylum seekers and refugees.

  • Debuut

    A programme in which primary-school pupils are introduced to the university in an accessible way.

  • Honours Trajectum Utrecht (in Dutch)

    A programme for ambitious and curious pupils from 2 and 3 HAVO and VWO in the region of Utrecht to enrol in additional education in order to develop their Dutch language skills and knowledge about the world.

  • TOP Academy

    The TOP Academy is an educational programme in which pupils from practical education receive vocational education at Utrecht University.

  • Start Nuu! (in Dutch)

    A programme within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences for VWO 5 and 6 pupils with a bicultural background.

  • U-Talent UP (in Dutch)

    The U-talent University Pioneers education programme is aimed at students whose parents have not studied at higher education institutions (in the Netherlands) and aims to introduce students to university and prepare them for studying.

  • Girls Club WIN (in Dutch)

    The Girls Club WIN is a programme for girls from 2 and 3 vwo with an interest in mathematics, computer science and physics. U-Talent organises the Girls Club WIN together with the departments of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.

  • Meet the Professor

    During the Meet the Professor project, 135 Utrecht professors get on their bikes to visit primary schools. Students can ask them anything!

  • The Diversity: Intake & Selection project (DIS)

    The Diversity: Intake & Selection project (DIS) has the goal of making new students' intake and admission processes more inclusive. From 2021 to 2025, many bachelor's and master's programmes are again actively working on this, in the second phase of the project.

Research

  • Stream Inequality

    An interdisciplinary research group within the strategic theme Open Societies. The research is focused on institutional arrangements that influence inequality and forms of exclusion.
