Ruud Hortensius is an assistant professor in the Department of Social, Health & Organisational Psychology. After receiving his PhD at Tilburg University, he worked at the University of Cape Town, Bangor University, and the University of Glasgow.

Working on the intersection of social neuroscience and human-centered artificial intelligence, he investigates social cognition in the age of robots and algorithms.

How do long-term interactions with AI shape the social behaviour of individuals, groups, and families?

At UYA he wants to work on the academic of the future. Who are they and how can they thrive at Utrecht University?

Ruud Hortensius has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2023.
