Activities of Anna Gerbandy leading up to project Modern Bigness: In November 2019 Anna was an invited speaker on Big Tech’s Modern Bigness; challenges for European Competition Law in Bucharest. In October 2019 Anna was an invited speaker on Sustainability and Competition Law at the Global Competition Law Center in Brussels. In September 2019 Anna was an invited speaker on Open Societies, Big Tech and responses of the law, at the Institutions for Open Societies Toogdag in Utrecht. In May 2019 Anna was an invited speaker at the Rondetafelgesprek/Expert meeting Parliament (vaste kamercommissie voor BZK), on Datasamenleving en Democratie (Datafied society and Democracy). In April 2019 Anna was an invited speaker at Dag van de Filosofie, on ‘Macht van de tech-giganten’ (Power of Tech-giants). In April 2019 Anna was an invited speaker at Artikel 1-lezing, on ‘Discriminatie door algoritmen: een reguleringsperspectief’ (Discrimination by algorithms; a regulatory perspective). In April 2019 Anna was Chair of a young scholars Round Table Meeting of the Platform Markets & Business. In November 2018 Anna was an invited speaker on Modern Bigness at the European Law conference of the Swedish Association for European Law in Stockholm, Sweden. In September 2018 Anna was an invited speaker at the Competition Day, Austrian Presidency of the European Union, Vienna. She gave a presentation on ‘Is it time for European Hipster Competition Law?’.
