Operations

Utrecht University is working on a campus where sustainability is seen, felt and experienced by everyone.

For instance by building circularly and renovating, increasing the biodiversity, reducing the energy and water use and reducing waste, we are working on a sustainable campus together. We connect knowledge on sustainability from education and research to our operational management. And we use our own operational management, buildings and grounds for academic research. With our operational management, we provide contributions to over half of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): from the theme of climate action to the theme of gender equality.

With regard to ecological goals, our focus is on three sustainable development goals:

  • CO2 neutral by 2030
  • Zero Waste by 2030
  • Increasing biodiversity
