Supporting activities of the Utrecht Botanic Gardens
The fund Friends of Utrecht Botanic Gardens supports projects in the fields of nature education, biodiversity, science education and culture that take place in the Utrecht Botanic Gardens and are co-organised by the Utrecht Botanic Gardens. The fund also supports projects that are focused on (future) friends and contributors, such as newsletters and large-scale promotion actions that make the Gardens more well-known to an as large as possible audience, both nationally and internationally.
The Utrecht Botanic Gardens manage a garden complex in the heart of Utrecht Science Park. The Gardens have both a scientific and a public function and function within a large national and international network.
The work of the Gardens operates at the interface of public and science, in which the Gardens approach a large audience for attention for social themes regarding plants, biodiversity and sustainability. Besides that, the recreational and horticultural functions are important as well. The Gardens currently receive roughly 90,000 to 100,000 visitors annually.
