Health and infections
On this page you can read what to do if you have symptoms or are infected with the coronavirus.
Frequently asked questions about self-testing
Since mid-March 2023, you no longer have to take a self-test before coming to university. You may, of course, do so.
Use common sense with flu and cold symptoms, whether they are due to the coronavirus or not. For example, if you have a cough, sneeze, sore throat or runny nose, the following advice applies:
- Stay at home if you are ill.
- If your symptoms are mild, ask your manager if you can work at home.
- If you have symptoms, avoid physical contact with people who could become seriously ill from a cold or flu virus. Wear a face mask if physical contact is necessary.
- Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and do this often.
- Ventilate indoor spaces well.
Self tests are available at the service points/receptions for the time being (while stocks last). They are available to students, teachers and other staff working on site.
Frequently asked questions about testing by the GGD
The covid test locations in the Utrecht region are closed since 1 March 2023. Other test sites will close as of 17 March 2023.

You can discuss this with your manager.
Now that education is again on location, we ask students, teachers who provide classes on location and employees with supporting tasks for these classes to come to UU. This said, we do understand that there are employees and students who, despite the measures taken, are concerned about health risks.
Employees who are not yet able to come to work for health reasons although their work requires them to do so, can consult their manager for an appropriate solution. In the case of lecturers, the educational or study programme director ultimately makes the decision. Students should discuss with their study advisor if, due to their health, they are unable to attend a course (with compulsory attendance) on location. There is a Q&A for students and teachers for more information
