Should the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) have more persuasive authority to defy current threats, instead of being a coordinating ‘polderaar’? This was one of the issues discussed during the event of the HUB Security in Open Societies in the Social Impact Factory on October 1st.

The keynote speaker at the event was NCTV Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg. In a discussion moderated by Paul ‘t Hart, he answered many questions by students and professionals. Aalbersberg appreciates input by scientists and students, because ‘the strength of the Dutch security strategy is that measures are based on information instead of perception. The NCTV needs science.’  After the discussion, Beatrice de Graaf coordinated a discussion with Kees van den Bos, Marie-Jeanne Schiffelers and Scott Douglas.
