This showcase project will identify ligands of γδ TCR receptors targeting cancer cells, and the the role they play in attacking leukemic blasts. It will merge state of the art mass spectrometry methods with T cell engineering technologies. Protein – protein interactions will be studied by structural biology such as cyro-electron tomography and solid state NMR.

This project is a collaborative effort with the group of prof. dr. Albert Heck.

Postdoc

Domenico Fasci studied Biotechnology at the University of Bologna, Italy. After graduating he joined the laboratory of Mark Ginsberg at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) where he gained experience in cell and molecular biology and characterization of protein-protein interactions of integrin cytoplasmic tails. Domenico obtained his PhD in 2014 under the supervision of Guy Salvesen at Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, where he investigated role of SENPs proteins in the regulation of cellular SUMO dynamics. Domenico then went on to join the laboratory of Albert Heck as a postdoc where he developed and harnessed a proteome wide crosslinking mass spectrometry approach to characterize protein-protein interactions in the cell nucleus.
