Each person is equipped with a very powerful immune system that is essential to survive in a world full of pathogens and diseases. Our immune system protects us from external threats such as microorganisms, and cancer. However, inappropriate activation can result in autoimmune diseases like psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis, and the loss of control over potential cancerous cells.
In the Utrecht Molecular Immunology Hub, researchers with complementary expertise in the areas of structural biology, proteomics, glycobiology and functional immunology have joined forces. Together they aim to understand how the immune system functions at the molecular level thereby contributing to the development of novel ways of immune interventions, improving our immune responses in health and disease and thus the wellness of our life.
