Which parenting skills are important for the development of self-regulation?

By conducting a systematic analysis of previously conducted studies (a meta-analysis) we investigate which parenting skills are important for the development of self-regulation. We believe that children develop better self-regulation skills when their parents exercise control in a positive manner (for example by giving instructions and through consistently handling rules) and being responsive (by showing warmth and support). By analyzing the results of multiple studies, we can reliably investigate which parenting skills play an important role in the development of self-regulation of children and adolescents.
