What are the key aspects of parenting?
Parents use a variety of parenting strategies. It is important that parents feel competent enough to raise their children, support their children in a positive and warm manner, and provide an explanation when correcting the child's behaviour. For teenagers, the important thing is to have the freedom to experiment, while parents still know where they are and what matters to them (monitoring).
We investigate which strategies contribute to the healthy development of the child through longitudinal and experimental studies, questionnaires and observations.
Naturally, our research also encompasses the quality of the contribution to child-rearing made by youth care professionals and teachers.
