    The National Police Lab AI (NPAI) is a cooperation between the Dutch police, Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Together these organisations strive to develop state-of-the-art AI techniques to improve the safety of the Netherlands.

    Transport organisations, distributors and public organisations face major challenges that AI research can contribute to solving. The AI & Mobility Lab develops innovative AI techniques in cooperation with a variety of organisations.

  • AI Lab for Public Services

    The AI Lab for Public Services connects Dutch public sector organisations with knowledge institutes, with the aim of optimising public services through effective and responsible use of AI and data science.

  • AI Lab for Sustainable Finance

    In the AI Lab for Sustainable Finance, data science, AI and finance researchers combine forces with finance professionals to tap into the hidden knowledge contained in the massive datasets of financial data and build a future-proof financial sector. 

  • AI4Oversight Lab

    The AI for Oversight Lab will develop trustworthy and responsible AI-driven methods and applications for the support of governmental inspectors in the oversight domain.

  • AI & Animal Welfare Lab

    In the AI & Animal Welfare Lab, we bring together academic experts on animal behaviour and needs, AI and data science with key stakeholders from business, government and civil society. Their common goal is to make full use of the potential of AI to improve animals' lives in practice. 

  • AI-aided Knowledge Discovery Lab

    In the Disc-AI Lab, in collaboration with partners from industry and civil society organisations, researchers develop software that uses artificial intelligence to analyse large text files quickly, efficiently and verifiably.

  • AI & Media Lab

    The AI & Media Lab is a cooperation between Utrecht University, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and Media Perspectives alongside a varied network of partners. The lab’s objective is to contribute to the digital transition at media and cultural organisations by developing new knowledge, applications and methods in the field of artificial intelligence and data science.

  • AI Lab for Healthy Living

    The Utrecht AI & Healthy Living Lab collaborates with a variety of stakeholders and organizations on the development and application of innovative AI techniques to help address the challenges of healthy living related to the Living Environment.

  • AI in Education Lab

    In the AI in Education Lab, we investigate how Artificial Intelligence and Data Science can help making learning and assessment more effective, adaptive and accurate.

  • AI & Sustainability Lab

    In the AI & Sustainability Lab, the faculty of Geosciences and the department of Information and Computing Sciences will collaborate with other departments, institutes, companies and public organisations to address challenges about the sustainability of our environment, with techniques from AI and data science.
