Green Office Utrecht University (GOUU) is the platform for students and employees of Utrecht University where sustainable ideas are formed, plans come together and projects are launched. GOUU supports Utrecht University's sustainability process. We raise awareness about sustainable solutions and UU ambitions among students and staff and support sustainability projects from within our university community.
What is the Thrift Shack?
New students often need a lot of new items to fill their room. Twice a year, we collect and second-hand items that have been donated by students moving out of the USP. We organise a free, Pop-up Thrift Shack to give these items a second chance and to stimulate a circular economy by bringing second-hand items back to life.
What are you going to do?
When you join the team, you will be helping out with the organisation of the Thrift Shack twice a year: Setting up the shop, collecting second-hand items and promotion are some of the tasks that you can expect. Next to that, the project group is responsible for the permanent thrift shelves in the Educatorium canteen, as well as hosting two circular events per year. This vacancy would be an excellent way to increase your experience in organizational skills and to become more aware of the impact of a circular economy and zero-waste. You will learn more on how to stimulate others to be more sustainable. Lastly, you will join our sustainable community and get to meet a whole network of sustainability-minded students!

Your profile
- You are passionate about sustainability and excited about increasing circularity at Utrecht University.
- You have plenty of creative ideas and are enthusiastic about increasing awareness and changing behaviour.
- You are willing to volunteer for an average of four to six hours a week / during certain months.
