Recap 2023

Utrecht University and the Utrecht University Fund are working towards a better world for tomorrow. We do this by researching complex issues, connecting thinkers and doers and offering space for students and alumni to develop. But we cannot do this alone. Together we share knowledge, give time and money to make this happen every day.

From 5 to 10 June, the 2nd edition of the Sharing Days took place. A week entirely dedicated to special encounters in inspiring places, with various opportunities to contribute to the growth and flourishing of Utrecht University. Alumni, students and staff could try out the renovated University Museum, go to work in the Botanical Gardens, or take a look behind the doors of Janskerkhof 3, get on a SUP or have lunch in the anatomy museum.

Sharing Days is about giving, getting and sharing. So we also called attention to Students in Need who sometimes need a financial boost to complete their education. Donations can still be made.

Eva González Pérez
One of the most inspiring activities during Sharing Days was Eva Gonzalez Perez's appearance in our Collegetour. She is known not only for her crucial role as a lawyer in the Surcharge Affair but also as our Alumnus of the Year 2023. And we are proud of that.

Eva talked about her studies in Utrecht and of course about the abuses at the Tax Administration. It all started when clients of Eva's husband's childcare business were confronted with alarming reports from the Tax Office. We are now years down the line. With great energy, passion and compassion, she took the audience past anecdotes and inside information. An affair that still continues and where Eva, with her sense of justice and perseverance, is a lifeline for many victims.
