FAIR Cheatsheets: help with open publication of research data and software

Utrecht University aims to increase the transparency of research by making research data more accessible. By sharing research data as openly as possible, our scientists contribute to that goal. But how do you go about achieving this in practice? To help you with this, we have developed the FAIR Cheatsheets. By following the steps in these cheatsheets, you will be able to publish your data and code in a FAIR manner.

What are the FAIR principles?

The FAIR principles are a set of instructions formulated to maximize the use of data and other digital objects such as code and software. Their aim is to facilitate, encourage and guide you towards making your data easily findable and accessible. All the while ensuring that the data you make available is easily understood and well documented with the ultimate goal to make scientific data as reusable as possible.

Start using the FAIR Cheatsheets

There are now two kinds of cheatsheets:

Through questions and prompts, we will help you make your data and code FAIR.

The first feedback we have received on the cheatsheets, is positive: “Great clarity as a guide”, “Makes FAIR simplified in a useful way” and “README on the back is the most valuable part” are some of the responses we had from users.
